How do I join The Giving Tree Collective?

If you are a qualified medical marijuana patient residing in the State of California, feel free to give us a call at 877-420-0215. If you are not yet a qualified medical marijuana patient, see our Resources page to find a doctor in your area who can recommend medical cannabis for your specific condition.

Before becoming a member, you will first have to get in contact with us either by phone or e-mail. We will then document your CA ID #, your doctor's Medical Board ID #, your recommendation's expiration date and your doctor's name. We will also need your doctor's primary phone number for verification. After verifying this information, we will contact you back within 24 hours to have you sign our membership agreement forms and provide us both a copy of your current doctor's recommendation and your valid CA ID. We will have to keep both your membership agreement and recommendation for our records and you are encouraged to make copies for yourself to keep beforehand.

We will not accept your membership agreement if a copy of your recommendation is unavailable!

You may feel free to e-mail this information in advance to thegivingtreecompassion@gmail.com or give us a call with your information at 877-420-0215.

What kind of cannabis should I choose for my condition?

All of our members can help provide you a case-by-case consultation of your condition in order to help you identify a specific strain and/or method that will help you choose your first option. This includes, but is not limited to, topical application, sublingual sprays, edible medicine, concentrates and the genetics/potency contained in each product.

How is your medication procured?

Our medicine has been cultivated and procured in accordance to California Health and Safety Code 11362.775 and CA Attorney General Guidelines. Your contributions go to help us produce medicine for you and our other collective members together.

Is The Giving Tree Collective a collective or cooperative?

We are a collective and collaborative association of patients working strictly under the collective model. Our member contributions help make it possible to provide our medicine free-of-cost to terminally ill or housebound patients.

How can I learn more about medical cannabis?

See our Resources link or feel free to e-mail at thegivingtreecompassion@gmail.com for help with understanding medicinal cannabis.

The Giving Tree Collective is a non-profit mutual-benefit association. While we perform a variety of services within our group, one of The Giving Tree Collective's primary purposes is to help promote safe access to quality medicine for our qualified patients in the State of California. In essence, we are a strict closed-loop system of exclusive members providing each other with intellectual & medicinal input.

How does The Giving Tree Collective operate legally?

The Giving Tree Collective is a legal non-profit collective under California law and has a strong passion for legal adherence and promoting the benefits of CA's medical marijuana legislation.

There are three primary writings which has shaped California's medical cannabis law to where it is today: Proposition 215, which established patient's rights with a voter majority in 1996, Senate Bill 420, which established collective association in 2007, and Attorney General Edmund Brown's Guidelines in 2008 which contains authorative recommendations in how collective associations should operate including association status, membership requirements, storefront outlines, etc.

On a Federal level it is recognized all collectives, cooperatives, and/or dispensaries are technically illegal. By signing into our collective, or simply existing as a medical cannabis patient, you are an active participant in federal resistance. However, while this might be 'resistance', Attorney General Eric Holder has stated in 2010 that all Federal raids on CA collectives will be prevented and the state medical laws respected. CA Attorney General Edmund Brown has also stated that all collectives operating within the strict legal boundaries of medical marijuana law may NOT be subject to criminal prosecution.

- We do not make 'sales'. We respect law enforcement. We do not violate local law. We do not violate ordinances or moratoriums. -

If you have any questions or concerns regarding our statements or California medical cannabis law, feel free to e-mail us at thegivingtreecompassion@gmail.com.
The Giving Tree Collective is a collaborative non-profit effort from patients residing in Sonoma, Napa, and Solano Counties. We are a non-profit mutual-benefit association of qualified patients within the State of California. Interpreting State and Local law as strictly as possible, we are looking to establish higher standards by providing our members with honest and open communication within our collective. Besides collective and cooperative support, we also provide our members with basic home care services and nourishing gifts.

Our name was inspired by Shel Silverstein's 'The Giving Tree' - a book filled with lessons about growth, change and compassion. We felt that naming ourselves 'The Giving Tree' would help us promote those same lessons of selflessness and appreciation for those with which we co-exist.

Patient, activist, or skeptic - we open our hearts and minds to you in our unified mission to provide safe access to medicine for qualified patients in the State of California. We hope to hear from you in the future.

Sincerely,

The Members of The Giving Tree Collective
